Connection

Have you ever taken the time
To look deep into an animal’s eyes
Did you feel the connection there
To one of God’s angels in disguise

A link that is truly precious
But cannot really be defined
A touching of two different souls
Through the heart and of the mind

Every animal has their own instincts
Along with a unique personality
An ingrained sense of survival
Traits similar to you and me

Yet we can be cruel and unkind
Unlike species other than our own
Animal’s intentions are never evil
Actions reflect what they are shown

There is no doubt they are a gift
From the untouchable to the tame
Placed upon this earth with love
In that respect we are the same
